Film Composers Using Multi Effects
Many film composers now make use of guitar multi effects in their compositions and this has increased the diversity of sounds used in film scores. While some may not like all of the new styles that are being used in film music, it should be a good thing in the long run that more types of effects are accessible to more composers. The more tools that composers can use the better their music should be, but there is always the fact that new technology and ability in music can focus the composer more on the sound and not the composition as a whole or its effectiveness.
What multi effects pedals and processors can do for film music composers is enable them to experiment with more sounds than the traditional orchestration or piano. This should let composers work with more sounds that go better with the action in the film and fit more naturally into the sound atmosphere that is going on. A film composer has to know about sound design these days and how their music will work with every other aspect of a film so the more effects they can use the better.
